How To Reach?
By Air: There are many flights from Calcutta and Chennai on rotational basis to Port Blair.
By Rail: There is no direct rail connection to the islands but there is always a railway out-agency at the Secretariat.
By Road: Taxis and auto-rickshaws are easily available in Port Blair that will take you to Ross Island. Having your own transportation will help you to explore the island in a better manner. Also, Bicycles are available at low rates.
By Sea: Ships sail to the island from Calcutta, Chennai, and Visakhapatnam. The trip may take 3-4 days from Chennai.


The island is 2 km from the capital city Port Blair. A short ride by boat that starts from Phoenix Bay Jetty can easily take you to Ross Island.

There are various hotels suiting all budgets. You don’t have to spend much for a comfortable stay in Ross Island.

Best Time To Go
As it is a tropical monsoon region, the area receives rain almost throughout the year. January, February and March are dry months. So, it’s up to you to enjoy the rain or not. Otherwise October To May is the best time to visit.
